Faux Illusion Technique Video-Birthday Celebration Continues

  Faux Illusion Linda Bauwin

Today's video is a technique using the Faux Illusion with the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder.  So love this technique.

By stamping on the embossing folder it totally gives the card a 3-D look.

the size of the card was the standard 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" with the Early Espresso Card Stock being a 4" x 5 1/4" and the Pool Party 3 3/4" x 5" piece.

When you sponge some color on the raised embossed image it makes the image looked really raised off the card.  Give this technique a try and share your results with me.

Creative Gift Card Bag

Mini Treat Box Gift Card Linda Bauwin

Today's Creative Fold Video is not a card but a Gift Card Bag.  This is a project we did at my recent Stamp Retreat.   I used the beautiful Season of Cheer Designer Paper and the Reason for the Season Stamp Set.

Sorry about the Senior Moments in the video.  Some days my brain just doesn't want to engage.  Hoping you guys will understand.  Here are the sizes of the card stock I used:

    • 6" x 12" Designer Series Paper Scored on each side at 3/4" & 1 1/2"
    • 3 1/2" x 5" Mossy Meadow for the bottom of the bag
    • 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Mossy Meadow card pull out
    • 3 1/4" x 4" Whisper White Front of Card
    • 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" Mossy Meadow bottom of card to hold gift card

Corner Fold Card

Corner Fold Card_Linda Bauwin

I am so in love with today's Creative Fold Card.  A shout out to Lee Graff as she is the one that inspired this video.  And it is probably one of the easiest creative fold card to do.

I am using the beautiful Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock, which is retiring and may even be gone by now.  Make sure you check out the Retiring Accessory List and Stamps before the are all history.

This card is a standard 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card you will want to score at the 4 1/4".  Then move the card to the 3" line and cut from the 2 1/2" mark to the 4 7/8" mark.  This will end your cutting 5/8" from the edge of the card.

Turn your card and line up at the 3" mark, start cutting here.  This will be at the end of your first cut line and cut to the 5/8" mark.  That's it.  You will just flip this half square over for your score line.  Didn't I tell you it was simple.

The layering on the front is just a 2 1/2", 2 5/8" and 2 3/4" squares in the different colors.  The layering on the inside of the card is what I think really makes it pop.  I used a piece of black card stock 4" x 5 1/4" and a piece of white card stock that measures 3 3/4" x 5".

Men's Vest Card

Men's Vest Card_Linda Bauwin

This adorable masculine birthday was shared with me by a member of my Stamp Family Judy Goodyear.  And when I saw it, I knew I had to share in a video for you.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

I think the coolest thing is how you use the tree punch to create it.  I had to dig that punch out, as I had put it away after Christmas thinking I wouldn't need it again.  Who knew I would be using for a man's card.

This card goes together so quietly.  The sizes of card stock used are as follows:

  • 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Smokey Slate
  • 2" x 5 1/2" Smokey Slate
  • 3 3/4" x 5" Basic Gray
  • Small piece of Whisper White

There is not a lot of stamping just the little "Happy Birthday" from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  But there are a lot of punches the tree, bow tie, modern label and word window.  This card would also make a great groom's card.

Shrinking Thinlit Dies

Shrinking Thinlit Dies_Linda Bauwin

Okay this technique is way too cool, the video doesn't do it justice.  I am so thankful that Judy Goodyear from Rochester, New York shared this technique with me.   Now we can have different size layers with the same thinlit die.

Shrinking Thinlits_Linda Bauwin

It is nice being able to change the size of the words with the Hello You Thinlit Dies, but by favorite Thinlit Die to use the Butterflies.  Especially the Swallowtail as it is large and can over power your card, but when you shrink it with the fun foam it is just perfect for any project.

What will you be doing this weekend?  Sure hope if you are in the Akron, Ohio area that you stop by and visit Jay & I at our booth at Adventure's in Stamping.

Jay will be doing this technique as the make-n-take.  So come give this technique a try.

I will be offering free shipping on a $50 during the show.  And don't forget the retirement list will be out with some great savings.

Using Those Adorable Daubers

Stampin' Up! releases YouTube Videos every so often to help inspire us.  Well this month they released a video using the must have daubers.  I so love daubers.

This video from Stampin' Up! is a little different, as there is no speaking. Just a catchy little tune.  Guess that is because daubers need no words to explain them.  Unlike my video on Tuesday that posted with no sound.  Daubers are very easy to use.

I usually use daubers for sponging around the edges of my card stock.  But Stampin' Up! shows us how to use with our decorative masks.  Not the ancient tribal kind-the spritzing, sponging, tracing, and embossing kind. They create awesome backgrounds.

Stampin' Up! carries two different sets of decorative masks, one with the Hearts & Stars, that is used in the video.  The other set has Dots and Stripes.

So sit back and enjoy this quick snappy video from SU!

Time For Creative Inking Blog Hop Mother's Day Bag in a Box Purse

Blog hop

This month's Creative Inking Blog Hop is featuring stamped items for Mother's Day.  I am so excited with my little purses.  I was inspired to do this for Mother's Day from a post I seen on a Facebook Group I am on.  I have two different versions on this post.

Bag in a Box Purse_Linda Bauwin

This purse I filled with filler made from our fringe scissors .  In this purse, I will put a gift certificate.   Love the tulips from the Painted Blooms Designer Paper. You will need to come back tomorrow, as I will posting a video on how I made this Bag in a Box Purse.

Notice anything else with this purse?  Look at the size of that butterfly?  Notice that it is smaller then the thinlit die from SU!  Want to know how I achieved that? I will be posting a video for this technique on Friday.   Check out the different size Swallowtail Butterflies.  Too Cool.

Shrinking Thinlits_Linda Bauwin

The second purse I have filled with some 4" x 4" note cards that coordinate with the purse.  I have also made some special envelopes using the envelope punch board.  Check out the Hello You Thinlits I used on these cards.  They too use the cool new technique that I will show you on Friday.  So don't forget to stop back.

Stamping the Weekend Away on my Retreat

Camp judson

My bags are packed once again, as I am headed for Camp Judson in North Springfield, PA to meet up with a group of stampers for the weekend.

All because of "rubber and ink"!

I have so many projects planned for them and a fun new game where they have a chance to earn LOTS of stamping supplies.

These weekend retreats are a lot of work.  But I so love the friendships that are made.  Some ladies come back each year, and others are new, but it is guaranteed they will all leave with renewed and new friendships.

I will be sharing some of the projects they will be doing over the coming weeks.
